22nd April 2018: What a week it’s been for growing. Tree buds are bursting in front of our eyes and the plum & cherry blossom seems to be doing everything all at once. Beech buds that were plump last weekend have been replaced with vivid green leaflets with dangly flower buds. The hawthorn, sycamore & horse chestnut are turning green too. The daffodils have come out in earnest along with the first of the tulips, mostly doubles. The ranunculus have peaked this week & have looked like a dream in the glasshouse, overtaking the anemones which are now declining. In the woods the garlic flowers are still wrapped up but waiting split open. Wood anemones & celandines have sprung out of the thick wet woodland floor. And the bluebells... give it a few days & instagram will turn blue!
Happy Earth Day. Looking forward to my Sunday morning.
Have a lovely day.
