“Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.”
- Tony Robins
It takes a person of deep strength and courage to show their authentic selves in a way that exposes their vulnerability. Many of us were brought up to believe that showing vulnerability is a weakness. The opposite is true. It is when we try to hide our vulnerabilities that we actually expose them – often people act arrogant or dismiss others because we are afraid of them knowing our true emotions or our real self.
The longer I live, the more I realize that true strength comes from being open to vulnerability, asking for help, and staying loyal to your values even if it means being uncomfortable. Strength is built by staying true to your authentic self despite fear of judgement.
