Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 136:
There is something fascinating about London, a quirky charm that can be taken from a country proud to retain its heritage while trying to prove its progressiveness on the global stage. I had a stroll through Camden, admiring the bustling markets, took the tube across to Covent Garden to watch a magician turn an egg into a mouse (no, really) and have spent longer than I care to admit trying to get the correct angle for this photo.
London is filled with sights to see and truly is a cultural melting pot. It's also a lot bigger than you might think, and getting around on the tube can be intimidating! It's funny to imagine what the city might look like in 100 years time, as it keeps up with modern technology while retaining the iconic architecture of yesteryear.
Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 78:
Welcome to Cuba! This is a country that manages to somehow match the energy of my ISSA 2. Everything about the culture here, from the music and dancing to the vibrant history all feel so alive. In Havana, the streets are filled with the exhaust fumes of 1950's cars, as men stand in doorways puffing on their cigars.
It is honestly one of the most photogenic cities in the world, thanks to its vintage feel and flamboyant style, and the energy around every street corner is unmatchable. It's certainly been my favorite stop on the trip so far!
Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 55:
After traveling up through France, I found myself in the city of Strasbourg, built along the river Rhine, a stone's throw from Germany. If you've always wanted to live in a fairy tale then the district of the city known as 'Petite France' is your dream come true.
16th and 17th-century houses make the entire experience akin to stepping through a time machine, and I found myself exploring every alley and grinning the entire time - and thanks to my ISSA 2 my smile was better than ever... seriously, 55 days and no sign of slowing down.
Tomorrow I will visit the iconic Notre Dame cathedral followed by a wander along the many canals, in a search for my very own Prince Charming.
Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 42:
Like so many before me, I have totally fallen in love with the white and blue buildings of iconic Santorini, Greece. This has to be one of the most charming islands in Europe, and I'm not just saying that because of all the wine I've been tasting (the Vinsanto is amazing by the way). I cannot think of a more relaxing way to spend my days than meandering through the streets and enjoying the views over the bay here.
This evening I will be retreating to my room, brushing my teeth (my ISSA 2 is still going strong!), and getting an early night ahead of the boat journey to the mainland tomorrow.
Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 34:
Sharing a boat journey along the Ganges with a sadhu, Varanasi (named the 'City of Lights') made for a stunning backdrop.
Yesterday I visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the oldest and most holy of the Hindu temples, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Although I wasn't allowed inside (you have to be Hindu to enter) there was a certain magic in the air from just being close to the temple.
India is an amazing country, the views, the people, and the flavors all make for a cocktail of culture I can't get enough of. I feel so welcome here that it will be hard to say goodbye and head on to the next destination. Namaste!
Adventures with ISSA 2, Day 1: After carefully planning my route I'm at the airport ready to go! My ISSA 2 has a full charge, so it should last me this whole year travelling! Anyone want to guess where I am heading to first?
